An enchanting 16th-century Florentine palazzo, just steps from the city’s artistic and cultural treasures, THE JAMES blends boutique sophistication and bold design with the effortless comfort of a true retreat.
The special character, charm and soul of THE JAMES is the vision of Florentine designer James Cavagnani, who has worked with local artisans and the finest materials to compose 14 uniquely styled suites together with unforgettable 1564 Lounge Bar and the signature James Restaurant. The palazzo that now houses The James bears the year of its birth engraved on it: 1564. A well-known year in which Michelangelo died, while Galileo and Shakespeare came into the world. Originally built as a convent, it still preserves the graceful architecture of Renaissance mercantile courts: a discreet façade, an off-centered portal, vaulted ceilings, and a serene internal courtyard, untouched by time.
Today, these centuries-old volumes house a new vision of hospitality: intimate, cultured and deeply rooted in beauty. The entrance welcomes guests into a dreamlike space, where hand-painted walls in sky and moss hues are adorned with living foliage, evoking the spirit of a secret garden. Each Suite expresses the most refined essence of the hotel: exclusive sanctuaries where contemporary design meets timeless elegance.
