A landmark among the rocks.
Set against the backdrop of an enchanting cove on the Brittany coastline, Castel Beau Site is one of the most beautiful destinations on the Côtes d’Armor. After a string of renovations, the hotel flaunts its former glory, an elegant retreat where you can discover the marvels of the Pink Granite Coast. Just a couple of kilometres from the small town of Perros-Guirec, Castel Beau Site is the perfect place to leave your suitcases and take a big breath of fresh air on one of the most stunning stretches of coastline in France.
Built in 1928, for a long time the hotel was a simple family-run boarding house. During the Second World War, the German army requisitioned it to accommodate officers, before the French Ministry of Defence recovered it in 1949, converting it into a holiday residence for soldiers. In 2002, Morgane le Meur, daughter of the racing cyclist Jean-Claude Daunat, fell in love with the place and bought the hotel which is now known as Castel Beau Site. It was opened to the public before undergoing several stages of renovation work. The hotel was opened once again to the public, then gradually renovated, before the H8 Collection group purchased it in 2018. Renovation work continues to this day as the hotel is reborn and history lives on.
LOCATION
This is one of the most fascinating corners of Brittany. From Paris, you’ll need just a couple of hours in the train to get to Guingamp station and from here it’s just a forty minutes’ drive northwards, passing through the peaceful town of Lannion before entering a land bursting with legends and marvels. Castel Beau Site sits here, on a pretty beach in Ploumanac’h, in the heart of the Pink Granite Coast which extends over just ten kilometres from the neighbouring town of Perros-Guirec. You come here to regenerate, to breathe in the sea air and recharge your batteries in a unique, natural setting.
NEARBY PLACES TO VISIT
PERROS GUIREC
Built like an amphitheatre across the Pink Granite Coast, this fishing community and pleasure port becomes a wonderful site the moment sunlight covers its 13 km of coast. A perfect family resort, Perros-Guirec brings a certain Riviera flair to Brittany!
SAINT GUIREC
Saint Guirec beach is one of the loveliest beaches in Brittany and is located at the foot of the hotel, perfect for rest and relaxation. If you’re interested in the legends of Brittany, head to the Oratory of Saint Guirec, accessible when the tide is out.
THE SEPT-ÎLES ARCHIPELAGO
Just off the coast of Ploumanac’h is the Sept-Îles archipelago: Rouzic, Les Costans, Malban, Bono, L’Ile aux Moines, L’Ile Plate and Les Cerfs. Made a protected natural site in 1912 and then a nature reserve in 1976, the archipelago is the most important reserve on the French coast.
PLOUMANAC’H
Here is where the Pink Granite Coast gets its most expressive. Chosen as “France’s Favourite Village” in 2015, Ploumanac’h looks exceptionally beautiful at any time of day. Between the Trestraou and Saint-Guirec beaches, the imposing rocks with their fantastical forms are known throughout the world.
THE PINK GRANITE COAST
From Perros-Guirec to Trébeurden, the coast turns a shade of copper and looks as though sculpted by the elements. Appearing to defy laws of balance, enormous blocks of granite create a unique and magical décor on the coastal heathland just as in the sea. This spectacle is played right before your very eyes every day from the Castel Beau Site.
